MeetOye vs Zoom: which video meeting platform fits multilingual, AI-first teams?

MO
The MeetOye Team
PRODUCT

Zoom and MeetOye solve the same surface problem — get people on a video call — but they were built a decade apart, for different jobs. Zoom grew up as the reliable, install-once workhorse for every kind of meeting, from a two-person call to a 10,000-seat webinar. MeetOye starts from a narrower, newer premise: most teams now run global, multilingual meetings, and they want the AI work — transcript, translation, recap — handled automatically, every time, without bolting on a bot or a separate subscription.

Where Zoom still wins

  • Maturity and reach — almost everyone already has a Zoom account and knows the UI.
  • Large-scale webinar and town-hall tooling, including registration and large-panel layouts.
  • A deep app marketplace and a phone system add-on for teams that need PBX-style calling.
  • Breakout rooms and event-management features refined over many years of enterprise use.

Where MeetOye is built differently

  • Oya, MeetOye's AI assistant, is on by default in every call — not a bot guests have to admit, and not a separate paid add-on.
  • Live translation runs per participant: each person picks their own caption language, and everyone else's speech is translated into it in near real time.
  • MeetOye is transcript-first — a searchable, speaker-labelled transcript and recap are the default; full video recording is optional and off by default.
  • Media never touches the application backend — calls run through a dedicated media engine, and teams can self-host the entire stack on-prem.
  • Guests join from a browser with one click; no software install is required on either side.

The value of a meeting assistant only shows up when it never misses a meeting.

MEETOYE PRODUCT PRINCIPLES

Translation, specifically

Zoom's translated captions are useful, but they sit on top of the product as an add-on capability. MeetOye treats per-participant translation as core to the room itself: a speaker talking in Urdu is heard in Urdu by everyone, while an English-reading participant and an Arabic-reading participant each get their own caption stream in the language they selected before joining — no settings to dig for mid-call.

Choosing between them

If your team runs large public webinars today and already depends on Zoom's event tooling, that operational maturity is real and worth keeping. If your meetings are smaller, cross-language, and you are tired of stitching together a video tool, a transcription bot and a translation service, MeetOye is built to replace all three with one room that does it by default.

Introducing Oya — the AI that sits in every MeetOye call

Every MeetOye meeting ships with Oya, a built-in assistant that listens, transcribes, translates and emails a recap. No bots to invite, no plugins to install.

Live translation, explained — everyone speaks their own language

A participant speaks Urdu, another reads English, a third reads Arabic — all in the same call, in near real time. Here is how MeetOye makes that feel effortless.
